BRAND NEW VERSION: 12.2.2276
« on: July 28, 2016, 06:06:35 PM »
Hi all,

we are happy to announce new version of AVAST Antivirus (build number 12.2.2276). This is a second release of the NITRO Update.
It's for these products: Free Antivirus, Pro Antivirus, Internet Security and Premier.
In this release, we finished some long-going internal projects (e.g. improvements in the licensing system and registration to the Windows Security Center) and fixed many bugs.
We stopped using the year in product name, as we will be releasing new versions in monthly cycles.

What's new:

+ Regular monthly program updates - automatic and silent, configurable via Settings

+ Fully compatible with Windows 10 Anniversary Update

+ The new Components menu in program Settings - an easier way to control which components are installed and running

How to install:

1. Update from existing Avast version via Settings -> Update -> Update program

2. Or you can download and install from here:

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup.exe

Offline installers:

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup_offline.exe

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

We hope you enjoy the new version!

No more Chrome offer after upgrading? Has that been removed permanently?

Same problem here with Safeprice ... not even the courtesy of an opt-out screen like we used to get for Chrome.  And there's not any provision for removing it (that I could find) in the new Settings/Components section.  As others have pointed out, the only workaround is through add/remove/change in the control panel.

If marketing has become your top priority, Avast, please listen to your market.

In addition, it took 2 or 3 reboots to restore MBAM, Networx, and the (Lenovo) audio manager to active status in my tooltray.  :P

Since the beta release of 2276 had the note about known issue of UI opening automatically, and this release is also 2276, is this problem fixed in this release?

Did not like the avast! SafePrice add-on being installed without asking. Had to remove it through Programs and Features > avast! > Change.

That rather depends on how you installed this update. If you downloaded and ran the off-line setup installation and you installed it over the top of your existing avast version, then it is on the first screen.

I believe this was previously installed, but you didn't see anything about it in the past as it would have been part of the old Browser Security  (AOS) function. Now you can see it if you do a custom install you can uncheck it.

Decided to create thread regarding performance.

On top of this, why does the stable has the same version number as the BETA. (both 12.2.2276)... come on Avast, surely you could have made the stable version 12.2.2277.

I just ran the build-in updater. This time i didn't get the offer window, which of course is good.

Version number doesn't make things magically stable. And it's known for program revisions to pass version numbers directly. Usually as "RC" (Release Candidate). The last version usually transitions into a final version. Sometime they may change the version number, sometimes they don't.

Well, it does get confusing having the same version as a BETA and a final version. - Ofcourse that doesn't make it perfect but surely not that hard to change 1 digit.
