Why can't we buy Avast Products for lifetime price?
« on: July 29, 2016, 09:09:05 PM »
So I wonder why don't you add an option to buy Avast products like Avast internet security with lifetime price. I am with Avast free antivirus for over 7 years or so and I never bought it cuz I don't want to pay it yearly. I want to pay it 1 time and that's it for lifetime subscripition. Make it good price for lifetime and I will buy it and i am sure other people will buy it too. It's just sux to pay yearly. 1 payment forever will be awesome to add!

Thanks,
Long time Avast free user

If you don't want to pay yearly, get a 3 year subscription.

1 year = 19.99$

I am 23 years old so lets say i will live until 120. So that's 97 more years to go.

97 x 19.99$ = 1939$

Do you really think I will spend 1939$ on an internet security? LOL

With 1939$ I can buy a new hardcore PC for gaming.

Just change the 3 years one to lifetime and I will buy it, if not I will just stay with the free antivirus. Anyways im 7 years with Avast free and never had any virus LOL

Is there anyone that have that?

Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware had it some years back (i have both) i have not seen any AV vendors with lifetime price but many have free AV    ;)

Then make Avast the first one with lifetime subscription.  Set the line for all the others :)

Well, either you will pay a lot (e.g. $4.000) for a lifetime license or avast will need to take the risk that they are loosing money and perhaps even go bankrupt.

There is no way to tell what will change in the future.
e.g. (not limited to) :
- salaries
- money exchange rates
- energy prices
- hardware prices
- laws/rules
- taxes
- housing costs

We were thinking about such offer, but later we dropped it as the price would be really huge. We understand antivirus more like a service and not as a static product. So it makes also more sense to charge it as service.

It's called "Milking the cash cow" aka Consumerism. It's really a doctrine and some people are so washed out, they can't see straight no mo. For them... everything is normal and the people asking questions, they are the nuts. That's why you're getting funny answers.

So Zade my man, it's a "Too bad... So sad" situationnnn.

Why no Life Time, apart that it would take an additional layer of administration to manage this money so that it generates all the necessary revenues for the established length of time. The price would be something like the aforementioned amount and nobody, very few, would actually purchase it. It would not be profitable.

Same thing with cars. They can design water pumps and alternators so they never... next to never breaks. An engineer does know that if he puts in a bigger bearing, it will last 400-500 km... then they wouldn't make any money with you and he would be out of a job. But yes, cars can be made like aircraft. The garbage econobox would then cost 80 thou and the luxury sport sedan half a mill. It wouldn't work.

That is why 9.95 a month sells way better than a single payment of ten thousand.

NOW HEAR THIS !
I don't want any Free Loading Avast Evangelists, with 40-80 thousand posts, to answer on anything here as none of you actually work for Avast Software S.R.O... and seriously, who wants an answer from lifeless zombies that know nothing and have no power to have anything changed... you can only forward issues.
On the other hand, I welcome posts from normal users that do have possible solutions.

If you aren't happy, there are choices. I've had free protection since 2003. So I'm the one that's been doing the milking.
I also don't know of any paid AV that offers to sell a lifetime license.
Lifetime license is also usually an indication of an impending end of the product. Sooner or later there wouldn't be anyone to sell the license to.
