It's called "Milking the cash cow" aka Consumerism. It's really a doctrine and some people are so washed out, they can't see straight no mo. For them... everything is normal and the people asking questions, they are the nuts. That's why you're getting funny answers.

So Zade my man, it's a "Too bad... So sad" situationnnn.

Why no Life Time, apart that it would take an additional layer of administration to manage this money so that it generates all the necessary revenues for the established length of time. The price would be something like the aforementioned amount and nobody, very few, would actually purchase it. It would not be profitable.

Same thing with cars. They can design water pumps and alternators so they never... next to never breaks. An engineer does know that if he puts in a bigger bearing, it will last 400-500 km... then they wouldn't make any money with you and he would be out of a job. But yes, cars can be made like aircraft. The garbage econobox would then cost 80 thou and the luxury sport sedan half a mill. It wouldn't work.

That is why 9.95 a month sells way better than a single payment of ten thousand.

*** Still you feed us lies from the table cloth *** -- System of a Down

I didn't say to delete the yearly payment. I said *ADD* a lifetime option. That way you have some ways to pay for avast internet security or premier.
Example of what I mean...:
Internet Security Subscription:
1 year - 19.99$
2 years - 39.99$
3 years - 59.99$
5 years - 79.99$
Lifetime - 299.99$

This is what I meant. I am sure people with high budget who have the money will go for lifetime subscription.

I really suggest Avast to do it. It is a good business strategy for people who got the money.

I bought a lifetime license for my firewall Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro and then someone bought the company. We were offered an annual license for a security suite from the company purchasing Agnitum.

Unfortunately lifetime is somewhat subjective, the lifetime of what.

Personally I don't feel there would be many takers for a lifetime license at $299, given what I have said about lifetime.

Currently 3 years is the longest license you can purchase.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

If there will be lifetime at 299$ i am going to buy it. and I am sure im not the only one. Yesterday I upgraded to internet security for trial time and the new version is awesome! I really want to buy it for lifetime.

I've been using a "lifetime license" since 2003. It's called the FREE version of Avast. :)
(Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

A lifetime subscription of $299 is still way out of line.  I purchased a lifetime subscription to System Mechanic from QVC for 2 computers for $50.  It does almost everything that Avast does with the exception of the anti-virus.

There's no such item as a lifetime license at any price for the paid versions of Avast.

Guess you didn't read or understand my answer. No such thing as a lifetime license for a paid version that includes the Cleanup module.

DUH, please reread my comment.

I think he did, given Bob's comment "There's no such item as a lifetime license at any price for the paid versions of Avast."

The figure of $299 was a suggestion from an avast user, not avast, hence Bob's comment. The only comment from avast said they considered it but dropped the idea.

We were thinking about such offer, but later we dropped it as the price would be really huge. We understand antivirus more like a service and not as a static product. So it makes also more sense to charge it as service.

Hi, we do not plan the lifetime license. It's not only a business decision, but there are also accounting obstacles.

Still a one time purchase is rather attractive. In the last 3 years Internet Security (3PCs) has gone from $39.99, to $49.99 and now they want to charge me $79.99!  Sorry, that is a fast way to sour your reputation with a previously happy subscriber.

There is a lot of expenses maintaining an antivirus product.  Calculating the costs likely makes the price that Avast must charge to break even beyond what people would be willing to pay for a lifetime fee.
AMD A6-5350M APU with Radeon HD Graphics, 8.0GB RAM, Win7 Pro SP1 64bit, IE11
