Avast Service not running
« on: July 30, 2016, 09:17:35 PM »
I am aware that there was some kind of bug that made this issue arise but i want to be sure my system is clean because when i tried clicking on "enable avast~" or whatever i got the black out screen and white box popup saying to the effect of is trying to stop the avast process do you with to continue. Also for the past few day every time i reboot i get the following firewall popup which i dont know is related to the other issue. I have included a hijack this log if someone can confrim that my system is clear? I am running full scans with Avast and malwerbytes as we speak Thanks

We do not use HijackThis logs anymore.
It is a obsolete tool.

Hi thanks for the speedy reply

I have done these steps to be sure but i simply wanted confirmation, if possible, that the issues i have about some program trying to stop avast when i was trying to "enable" it (maybe i was inadvertently trying to disable it since the services were actually working was related to the global issue of "avast not running" that everyone experienced

Also any thoughts on why i am getting the pop up every time i reboot? I have tried deleting the networks in avast profile page but it still remains

Please find enclosed the required logs

I don't see any obvious malware in the logs.
But I do see Sidebar loaded 3 times and that doesn't look normal to me.
I don't think that has something to do with the loading of the avast screen.
Just have some patience and let's see what others have to say about it.

Just as info :
In the past I've developed a tool to automatic analyze HijackThis logs.
I integrated it in my "new" tool that also analyzes Farbar log files.
Only 3 minor (non harmful) things found that could be fixed.

Hi, can you tell me what this sidebar thing is that is unusually to load three times and what the other three things that could be fixed? Thanks

Could i please get some confirmation that my system is clean, i work from home and cant do much without logging into email etc

I also did a smart scan today and these pop up came up, when i did it again with outlook cloed there were no issues is this fine then or was/is there a virus? Thanks

1. Have you tried a virus scan other than the smart scan ?
Often this completes when the smart scan doesn't complete and comes up clean and most likely reports the files it couldn't scan and why.

2. Having Outlook open may lock down in use files/folders, in this case the main outlook email folder, outlook.pst. See https://askleo.com/where_is_my_outlook_pst_file_located/.

So it looks like having Outlook open is the cause of the fault in the smart scan, but I thought it would have completed the scan and simply reported the files that couldn't be scanned.
