Adobe CC installs/updates blocked - how to get more info

I'm running into the well-known problem that app installations (and some app updates) in Adobe Creative Cloud fail because Avast is blocking something. The only advice I can find is to temporarily disable Avast, which works but is a wimpy bandaid - I would rather fix the problem, somehow telling Avast that files acquired by the Creative Cloud console are safe, or whatever is the applicable exception to designate.

This forum thread's response said to check the logs, but gave no advice of what to look for in which log. I looked in every log (that would open - one was locked) whose file timestamp was after the latest occurrence of the problem, but I couldn't find anything that looked applicable. Surely Avast recorded it somewhere, right?
