Avast Firewall, Java and UPnP
« on: August 04, 2016, 06:25:57 PM »
Hello all.

I've stumbled upon problem with one little java based program. Program is Maptool, simple role-play gaming utility. It creates server with necessities for game night and players just join this server.

Problem appears only when I'm trying to start my own server. I can join others without any problems at all. But when I'm trying to create my own server I'm getting error message "UPnP Error - No Internet Gatewat Devices found. UPnP port mapping will not be available" and nobody can connect to server. Problem dissapears when I turn off Avast Firewall. Server starts, I get no errors and people can connect to server. With working firewall every time I get error message, another entry in Firewall Log appears with blocked javaw.exe. I've tried to make rules for javaw.exe and exclusions with this file and all directory. It didn't work.

Is there any way to use this program without turning off firewall?

PS. I'm using Avast Internet Security

Ask the maker(s) of Maptool what you need to set in the firewall as rule.
It might be on mentioned on their website.
