Windows 10 Anniversary Update Issues
« on: August 02, 2016, 09:38:26 PM »
Just upgraded to Anniversary update and problems are already here...

First issue is that avast! is not detected as working antivirus. Windows Defender insists on running, misdetects avast! status while avast! seems to still work... see attached image...

Tried repair, took quite a while doing something and nothing changed even after reboot. So I've uninstalled avast! for now. Have to re-install to see if it'll work then. Not exactly cool, because both running at once caused some slowdowns on my system with very fast hardware. Imagine the outrage of average user if such problems happen...

This situation seems to occur just immediately after the first start of Anniversary Update. A single reboot should resolve the issue as the registration to the Windows Security Center is done after each start of the system.

Edit: We will surely look into it and try to reproduce it with the repair after the upgrade to Anniversary Update as we've never seen similar behavior.

I did an extra restart just to be sure, both after Anniversary update restart and after Repair command, because I've seen similar behavior before. After reinstalling it clean, it's detected properly again.

The problem is that security center service is disabled (usually it is stopped but no disabled) after upgrade and windows enable it after a while. We don't handle this situation correctly but I am preparing fix right now.

I had problems to apply win10 v1607 update, and I tried to install it from ISO image.

The first try failed.

I uninstalled Avast Pro, and I tried again.
The update went fine.

The I decided to reinistall avast and... the os went in bluescreen at every restart.

After 20 minutes, I succeeded to start it in safe mode, and start avastclean.

From that point, Win10 was back to life.

I suppose that this last Avast version needs some more work....
