Avast Internet Security license/account problem

Hello,

I own Avast Internet Security license valid till December tied to my account. Today the Avast tray icon started indicating error state (red circle with white cross) and I found out it's unlicensed. At first I thought my license expired so I clicked something like "prolong trial from 30 to 60 days" and paid 0 through paypal - but then I noticed my account is logged out, and couldn't log in (it says Unexpected Error - An unexpected error occurred on the server, we are working on the solution.). Tried to insert license file again (Unable to insert the license file. The signature is invalid. The license file is corrupted or modified) which I re-downloaded from my avast account (it indicates no problem whatsoever on-line) and also tried the activation code method (The request cannot be processed at this moment, please try again later. (-2147195904)). Avast requested administrator access several times, I tried turning shields on and off and other stuff.

Currently my computer is unprotected and I can't seem to find out what's the problem :( Any thoughts?

I have working internet connection, my date and time is fine, so there shouldn't be any certificate out of sync problem... Could it be a malware of some sort attacking my Avast, or some server-side license check broken?

//edit it recommends restart :( I have lots of work opened up now, will finish later today...

Finished without restart, no difference.

For any changes to take effect, you need to restart.
Do the restart through the Avast User Interface.
After you've completed your work. :)

Yup, everything fine after restart :) I hate restarts though, usually do 1 or 2 per month - hope this was an isolated incident.
