Wasn't Sure To Post This
« on: August 26, 2016, 06:48:35 PM »
My husband bought me a new win 10 laptop.  Not all that thrilled because I've never used a laptop.

Anyway, it comes with McAfee pre installed and other than removing it from programs and featuresI don't know how to uninstall it. I do plan on installing Avast as soon as I know how to uninstall McAfee.

Would very much appreciate someone telling me how to uninstall it.

Thank you.

See avast FAQ article, http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle.
David@ Clicking on McAfee within the Avast link you gave will take you directly to the site I've already linked :)

I uninstalled McAfee from program and features, used the McAfee removal tool. Then I installed Avast.. The avast icon doesn't show up in the task bar even though I checked it in settings. How can I fix this?

Something is messed up.  See attachments.  ???

I don't know why it's showing a desktop when it's a laptop.  I'm using my Xfinity WiFi, not Xerox. When I click on network in the task bar it shows I have 6 connections which are secured but the wifi connection is showing open.

@DavidR,

Could you please read my post with the attachment's?

Thank you.

The name of the device, be it laptop or desktop is normally obtained from the system.  If I look in my my.avast.com Devices the names I see there are the ones I have given the desktop or netbook..

I don't use the Home Network Security, so I can't comment on the problem. I ran it whilst in beta testing and after that I removed it, I couldn't see the point in continually scanning the same network over and over again.

Other than very Basics, Is this during a Smart Scan ?
If so then run the Home Network Security scan on its own. Most likely it will complete with success.
