Avast Free antivirus

Hi,
I just installed avast free antivirus this morning, but I haven't been able to open it I have tried dozens of times and it's not coming up with any messages or anything it is just not opening.
Please help me.

- Which version of Avast Free..?
- OS..? (32/64 Bit..? - which SP/Build..?)
- Other security related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?

What are you doing to try and open it ?

After installation (and rebooting), it should be running. There should be an avast icon in the bottom right of the taskbar area.
