AVAST E-mail Security For Exchange Server in Hyper-V
« on: September 06, 2016, 06:29:44 PM »
I purchased a bunch of server licenses for my Exchange Servers running in Hyper-V.  I was exchanging emails with the AVAST support before I made the purchase and gave him my environment (Hyper-V 2008, Exchange 2010/2007).  After a few months, I noticed that my message queue increases rapidly when avast email security is running.

Then when I opened a ticket, AVAST support told me HYPER-V IS NOT SUPPORTED AND THE ONE WHO ANSWERED ME MAY HAVE OVERLOOKED THE HYPER-V PART!!!

Now I am stuck, I cannot use the software I purchased and there is no help coming from AVAST as well!

I feel I was scammed!

Anyone who has a workaround for running email security for exchange in Hyper-v?

Neil

I don't know about the server versions, but on W10 it was fixed.
The problem was only when using Intel Skylark CPU's.
Prior to the fix a workaround was disabling VT in the bios.

Can you open the Avast UI on the Exchange guests, then navigate to SECURITY and confirm that:
1. Under ANTIVIRUS > Mail Shield is stopped / disabled
2. Under ANTIVIRUS > Exchange Shield is running
3. Under ANTISPAM > Status the Exchange Antispam is running.
