Blue Screen of death ntdll.dll
« on: February 02, 2006, 06:32:30 PM »
Hi all!

I tried a search of the forums for ntdll.dll but I couldn't find anything related to my problem.

When I install avast and reboot after selecting perform system scan on next startup i get the loading windows xp boot screen which then flashes to a blue screen with Unknown hard error: system32/ntdll.dll or a very similar message anyway. I know it's avast! because I have reformatted my PC twice in the last few days trying to figure out what the problem was. It used to happen on my other hard drive what seemed to be randomly say once a fortnight when i was using that to boot from.

Im running xp pro sp2 and it's newly formatted as of last night with just a few drivers and zone alarm 6.1.737.000.

any ideas?

thanks  :)

regards

wills!

You can download a new file here  http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?ntdll
and read about it here http://www.sysinternals.com/Information/NativeApi.html
I can't see it being avast however, I could be wrong.  Uninstall avast using the uninstall tool and see if you get the same error if you do then it is probably not avast.

I got bluescreened after installing Zone Alarm. You have to dissable the windows firewall for Zone Alarm to work. Just a thought.
