Does not work on macOS 10.12
« on: September 20, 2016, 10:43:47 PM »
Privilege elevation using helper tool is broken. Anytime it is called I get:

„Authorization failed. You don’t have permission to save the file “502” in the folder “elevation”.“

„Communication with Avast service failed. The operation couldn’t be completed. No such process"

Same problem here.

Updating virus definitions and program version do not work anymore since updating from OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) to macOS Sierra 10.12.
I'm using Avast Mac Security 2015, version 11.17 (46792) on macOS Sierra 10.12.

When trying to update virus definitions or program version manually, the following error messages appear:
- "Authorization failed. You don’t have permission to save the file “501” in the folder 'elevation'."
- And after that: "Communication with Avast service failed. The operation couldn’t be completed. No such process."

Any help would be appreciated.

Update: the automatic update process of updating virus definitions in the background still seems to work though. Only manual updates (by using the program interface) are broken.

OS X 10.12 deletes some of our files on upgrade (the latest beta did not do this...). We are working on a fix/workaround which will be released ASAP as an program update.

The update is released, version 11.18 should "survive" the OS X update.

This DOES NOT survive 10.13.6
after an upgrade from 10.12  the menu options for disabling options is throwing 502 errors again

Hello itdept_head,
we re-tested it and we cannot reproduce :( Would you mind to share some logs, console output, etc.?

In our lab following scenarios were working:
- elevation on macos 10.13.6 in account that installed the AV
- elevation on macos 10.13.6 in account that didn't install the AV
- elevation on macos 10.13.6 in account that installed the AV after upgrade from macos 10.12
- elevation on macos 10.13.6 in account that didn't install the AV after upgrade from macos 10.12
Quality is also a feature.
