Could be it is and that the faq needs a update though.

Yes, it works on OS X 10.12 since version 11.14, see the changelog

I did not work for for me. Simple to repeat. 1. disable all filters, 2. upgrade to macOS 10.12, 3. enabling filters or update does not work.

Wait for the update to 11.18, it should fix the elevation issue caused by the OS X 10.12 upgrade.

So I have been running Macs for 6 plus years without AV software. I decided to go for it, be safe, did all my research and settled on Avast as it appeared to have good reviews. I have a clean 10.12 setup with minimal 3rd party apps installed, Microsoft Office 2016 and a couple others but not much. I was running fine for a couple weeks, ever since installing Avast I seem to get system hangs quite regularly even after a reboot. If I look in Activity Monitor during the hangs, it shows various programs "not responding" for short periods of time and then they recover, but none of these were an issue prior to installing Avast. I have 11.18 installed, and I believe I have all the options setup correctly, been doing computers for a long time, any suggestions anyone before I just remove it to see if that cures the issue. The hangs with the spinning beach ball can last anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds and even just happened while typing this post in Safari and all other apps were closed. Any ideas? Thanks.
