My computer just received the Windows 10 Anniversary update and after a number of reboots I noticed that Avast Security Browser extension got added to Chrome (I had it previously enabled), but after rebooting I found that both Edge and Chrome browsers fail to launch!  Edge flashes a really quick splash screen and immediately closes.  Chrome throws an error message (sorry don't have the exact error message now) and leaves you with the only option to close the error dialog box.  Continued tries result in the same behavior.  Uninstalling the Avast Security Browser extension and rebooting restores functionality to both Edge and Chrome browsers.

Has any one else run into this issue?  Is there a fix for it... or one coming?   I'm running Avast Free and I've just re-installed to make sure I have a clean installation.  I'm wondering if it's specific to my hardware.  I've read that Avast was causing issues in other cases with specific hardware on computers upgraded to Win 10 Anniversary Edition.  My info is as follows:
Windows 10 Pro
Version 10.0.14393 Build 14393
HP Compaq Elite 8300 CMT Desktop
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz 3401 Mhz, 4 Cores, 8 Logical Processors, 16 GB ram
Motherboard HP 3396
Bios: HP K1 v02.05, 5/7/2012
System HDD:  1 TB Hitachi HUA7220
