VIRUS FOUND ALERTS
« on: February 06, 2006, 07:53:04 PM »
I am getting repeated "Virus Found"notices, saying Avast stopped the attack.  When I ask for more information, I get a message that there is no content.

It started today when I went to my webmail at Juno.com.  The Malware reported is:
  SDFE-ZhugeLiang-4784.

I can't seem to stop repeated instances as I go...it seems to occur whenever I click to go to a new screen.

I logged on to Avast to see what I could find, and it's happening here!  Occurred when I clicked to enter this message, when I went to the forum, etc.

Can I do anything to stop this?

Same problem here. It's reported everywhere... Google, Shacknews, ..., even in incoming E-mails!

AFAIK this has been an Avast bug some months ago already. I hope they'll fix it ASAP. Meanwhile I stopped the Web Shield and Internet Mail service.

Guys, does the problem persist even if you restart the computer?

I had this problem too, with the web shield detecting
SDFE-ZhugeLiang-4784
on every website, shortly after getting a virus database update this morning

Didnt' matter whether I was using Firefox or IE.

A system restart has fixed the problem.

I have to say that this is one of the weirdest problem in avast that I have ever seen (and still doesn't seem to be solved). Frankly, I don't have an idea what's happening there - at all. :)

I wish I could have access to a machine that has this simulated...

Yes i'm getting it on an increasing number of clients now.

And the only way i've found of getting rid of the problem is to uninstall and reinstall.
Disabling the netshield doesn't seem to help, it picks up the files in the Temporary Internet files folder too so it seems to lay with the vps(?).

I've sent a zip of the contents of an affected PC to Mr Norris, you should have it by now Vik.

Good, thanks...

But it's strange, because I checked the logs in that avast installation - and there's no reference to this virus (or any other virus). Has this "image" been really taken at the moment the problem was present?

Thanks
