Hi, I am new to the forum. I don't know if I am in the right place for this question or not, but here goes.
Since downloading avast, I am unable to access my photos. It says "Class not registered" I have never had this problem before. Why now? What do I do to correct it.
Val

Hi, Is there anyone out there able to help me? I have never had problem accessing my photos before I downloaded avast. Now I can't even open them.
I would love an answer to this problem.

In what file format are the photo's ?
Where are they stored ? (camera, hd, usb stick, ...)
How and with what are you trying to open them ?

I have windows 10 home.
Jpeg
File Explorer, Quick access, pictures or downloads or recent files.
I usually just open in pictures and double click on the photo and view it or rename it.
Can't do anything. It says:

C:\users\ValCoffey\Pictures\McClean Media\Davey William 1828-621.jpeg
Class not registered

That is what showed when I tried to open that photo.
I have never yet had this problem. Why now? What do I have to do to fix this problem. I wanted to show my husband a few of his relatives as I am doing his tree. Can't.

The problem has nothing to do with avast.
It is a known problem with Windows 10.
You need to set the file association again.

I have had windows 10 for a year now. This problem is only 3 weeks old. It is only since I downloaded the free Avast and still in the paid premier account.
What do you mean by "You need to set the file association again".
How do I do that please.

Eddy, I did not have this problem with any other virus protection ever. It was only since I joined Avast. You said that "I  need to set the file association again", what do you mean. This is the second time that I have asked you this question.

I figured it out for myself. I think I fixed the photo problem. Thanks for being so clear in your response. I would hate to have had a serious problem.
