Avast has bricked my desktop
« on: October 04, 2016, 08:39:57 PM »
Receiving this message: Stopcode: SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED. then it says What failed: aswNetSec.sys

The comp (HP Pavilion on Windows 10) tries to autorepair but keeps come back to that message screen. Also, it won't allow me to restore to an earlier point.

Is there anything I can do?

Can you still boot in safe mode ?
If so, use aswclear to remove avast.
Start Windows in normal mode after doing so.
Perform a clean installation of the latest avast version.

Whew that did it, Eddie. Thanks! I had to really work to get back to safe mode because it kept returning to that screen where it was just sitting there with those messages. Well that was a nice little heart attack for the middle of my afternoon :-) Thanks again!
