Update Notification Message
« on: February 03, 2006, 04:14:36 PM »
I'm using Avast 4.6 Home Edition, Build 4.6.763.  Since the last program update, I no longer get the audio message that the virus database has been updated.  I have double checked and both the audio and notification options are still set to "on".  Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

I haven't had the audible notification for some considerable time well before 4.6.763, but I'm not overly concerned because I can see the visible update progress.

I can hear any virus alert messages but not the update audio.

What operating system do you use? What language version of avast! do you have?
When you check the corresponding language folder within avast! installation folder (e.g. "English", if you use the English version of avast!) - there are the corresponding WAV files there. If you try to play them (just from Windows Explorer) - do you hear the message?

Not sure if that's for me, but XP Pro SP2, avast home, English version, sound files are in the English folder and they play OK in WMP. The others played OK in avast during test conditions (eicar, etc.) but no VPS Update.

I've just gone into the settings Sounds, settings, Sounds Tab, and it was showing the correct file and location. Despit this being correct I used the browse function and pointed it to the vpsupd.wav file. So I will have to wait for the next auto VPS update to see if this makes any difference.

Just a thought, would it make any difference if in my case I have Updates to 'ask when Update is available' rather than full auto VPS update ?
