Avast and Other Programs Possible Conflict
« on: October 16, 2016, 07:17:23 PM »
Hi All

About a month ago had a serious sorta infection, did a clean PC install,  well now with Firestorm Secondlife viewer (3rd party viewer) lately the ram usage shoots up to 70-95 at times,  I don't know if it's Avast conflcting with Malwarebytes Anti Exploit or even if I need that installed)  Conflicting with Firestorm, just want machine to run fast and also be protected.

Windows 10 Pro 64bit 1607 14393.321
AMD FX 8310
8gb of ram
2tb hard drive

Willing to uninstall whatever is not needed, willing to even try Offical 32bit Secondlife viewer (3rd party Firestorm is 64bit), Other installs nothing uninstall much or added, except updates for Windows, and other programs at times which is normal I feel.

Hoping to get all problems solved, then update system image with Macrium and can relax and game, and such

Dust clean out done a month ago, should be still fairly clean

Or could just be Firestorm program issues and not much I can do on it til next version, have reported issues to them as well

Well I had this sort of similar issue with my windows 7 SP1 few months back but sometimes upon turning on the computer it automatically shuts down and sometimes upon restart and after it shows the desktop screen and like around 5-15 minutes it makes this stupid loud noise i.e. fan speed and the hard disk makes the stupid noise, or the ram shoots up like crazy. Well, first off there was a fair amount of dust, but not too much. So I disconnected the cpu, opened it up, and did a carefully and with care did a dust blower. After that closed up the cpu and restarted it. Same result as before. So I again opened it up and i found out that few of the components was sort of loose i.e. loose components, loose connection like the GPU, the computer switch was a bit loose so I did fixed up everything and voila everything was back to normal.

Make sure all of your cpu connections, components, and etc aren't loose? If you did all those stuffs and you found it not to be useful, my guess will be you didn't properly uninstall your previous antivirus properly prior to install avast i.e. used the uninstall function via add/remove and used it's removal tool/uninstall utility via safe mode, and then installed Avast.

It's unlikely that it shouldn't be your computer fault, because your signature says that your cpu has got higher specs. Another thing it may cause is that your computer may have some drivers problems, but I may be wrong? Did you do a complete scan for malware using avast, malwarebytes antimalware?

Well Dust clean out done a month ago, but took time this morning to check all connections, all tight as can be, so that's not it,  reloaded system, Restarted Comcast Gateway (DPC 3941T), while that was restarting reinstalled Avast with Offline installer, restarted PC, redid the exclusions for Firestorm viewer, restarted again.

Results: After Second Restart, reopened usual programs, one Microsoft Edge viewer, Windows 10 Mail app, Skype Preview, and of course Firestorm Viewer X64, Memory usage was down, stayed around 55 to 63 Percent entire evening,  also adjusted Firestorm video memory usage from 2048mb to 1024mb for textures, thinking it could've been using all of the video memory, plus using system memory/swap file when it used all of the video memory, with texture memory lowered, it seemed to have resulted in working better thus far.

Previous Av was just Windows Defender built into Windows 10 Pro 64bit 1607
(Ran for about a day when I resetup system from clean install back in September)

Drivers up to date

Antivirus and Malwarebytes scan done as well, 0 infections found

Think I covered about everything possible, so hopefully the problem does not return, and system keeps performing perfectly

I asked you that what was your previous antivirus, because I thought you had installed a different antivirus before using Avast i.e. McAfee and such and yes I know Windows 10 has a built in antivirus (Windows Defender). Glad it resulted in better working performance, it must have been some of your programs using high memory. Fingers crossed it doesn't come back  :)
