Hi

I have Avast Premier running on my Win 10 Insider build 14951 (yesterday's update).

However, my Avast will not automatically update its virus definitions and is stuck on version 161013-1. It will also not upgrade to the most up to date version from the current Avast 11.2.2262. These issues existed before the update to 14951.

I have tried to update virus definitions from within Avast but get the errors of 'HTTP server error' and 'invalid file signature'.

I have tried upgrading Avast version but also get 'invalid file signature'.

I have downloaded the Avast installer for the most up to date version but it fails to install. Similarly, the downloaded offline upgrade fails - saying that sannot access the SXF Archive.

Any suggestions for solving this would be gratefully appreciated!

Thank you

You can't expect everything to work on a insider build.

You can try a clean installation of avast, but there are several problems reported when it comes to downloading on that Windows version.

If you search, you will find several post mentioning problems on that build.

Windows 10 Insider Preview builds are meant for testing purposes only : You should expect bugs, unstable systems or worse ;)

I am well aware of the nature and purpose of having participated in the Insider Programme, and hence was merely seeking guidance as to fixing the issue which I imagine others may have experienced. Also, I did point out that this issue predates the current version of Win 10 on my machine. Thanks.

Do as I suggested and see if it solves things.

The last build of Windows 10 that had no problems is build 14936.
Roll back till Microsoft fixes their problem with third party protection or,
totally remove Avast.
