Beta version released - 12.4.2281
« on: November 03, 2016, 01:10:28 PM »
   Hi all,
sorry for the delay with this beta, but it's finally here. We are now busy working on integration with AVG but I hope you will like the changes coming early next year (and yes HIPS included (wink) ) Main purpose of this beta to test its stability and get your feedback on the new UI. We didn't changed just the "face" but also the framework behind the UI so it gives us now much more flexibility in fixing various issues and bugs in the UI much faster than before.

We listened to the feedback, so there won't be color difference between Free and paid versions and all will be dark. Navigation moved back to the left side, and the window is now larger. We know it's not perfect now and we will work hard in the upcoming weeks to polish it for release quality.

Newest beta version: 12.4.2281

Changes:
+ Fully new UI framework with modern graphics
+ Removed screensaver and desktop gadget
+ Huge internal changes for product stabilization

Download links:

Known issues:
+ Some UI parts are not fully finished yet, excuse glitches
+ SmartScan and Browser Cleanup not finished
+ UI glitches in some expiration messaging dialogs
+ Web shield problems on Win 10 internal preview
+ Passwords synchronization setup flows are broken

Share your feedback and opinions about the new UI here.

Nice, thanks!

One thing I noticed:
1. Ran online installer for free version. It offered Estonian by default. Clicked continue, but then back and changed UI to English.
2. Went thru installation. Main UI is in English, but settings are in Estonian.

VMware W8.1 x64. Will try to reproduce and make proper report if possible.

The translation process of the new UI is still not finished. Thus while it is set to Estonian, the logic is  - check the Estonian language package and if the string is missing, fall back to English. And since the Estonian for new UI is still missing, it uses English version.

Settings are just a modification of the old UI, so it has its translation files.

Seems like there is something else in play. Check my report at
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=192648.0

But of course there will be language updates for new version. Still, running English installer installs it in English, but settings are in Estonian. Conflicting :)

Anti-ransomware in Q1 2017 and some stats have already returned in the new UI (look for pi ;-)

@ hectic-mmv
I have yet to download the beta, but your comment of making the UI window larger prompted this post.

I would like to be able to reduce the size of the window not have a fixed minimum size. I have an acer netbook with a 1024X600 resolution (as my secondary system), so having it exceed 600 pixels in height would be a pain.

On that note: not the UI size but the installation file that has been a right pain in the rear as it exceeds 600 pixels in height so the lower button/s are off the screen. That too needs looking at so that the user can reduce the size of the window so they can scroll to the buttons.

So hardened mode no longer has moderate/aggressive settings?  I guess everyone that used it used agressive anyway.

Another question regarding CyberCapture.  Is it true that it only works when using Avasts own web browser?

Oh and BTW, why make the GUI window larger?  In the screen pic above, there's a lot of wasted space.  Personally, I prefer smaller GUIs.
