2281-Clean install
« on: November 07, 2016, 04:26:36 PM »
1) Browser Security/AOS wouldn't install via the GUI. Gets to about 90% installed then got stuck.
2) Had to do a clean install. Did not install the AOS extension.
3) Clean install took f-o-r-e-v-e-r. (Used offline installer).
4) Custom install has every selection ticked. Should have the basic items only ticked, not every single item.

Good point....No longer need to register. Auto-registered during install.

A custom install has always shown every item ticked, that's the reason for custom so you can untick ;)

If I remember correctly v5 thru v8 did not. Just the basic protection was ticked.
Then again I could be wrong.

There should be a drop-down list of three installation types:
Recommended (virtually everything), Minimal (all shields less the mail shield) and Custom, which as Craig mentioned has all boxes checked.

These options (installation types) have been available from avast 12.2.xxxx I believe hopefully they would still be there in 2281. I can't say for certain as I'm waiting on this beta as I think it really is work in progress.

EDIT: As far as I can remember Custom installs always had everything checked (not many times when I did a clean install), mainly because I normally do a minimal install and had to uncheck those options I didn't want.

Yeah Think Custom installs always had everything checked, it did on 12.3.2280 just a few moments ago, tried the beta twice on this Windows 10 Pro X64 System, this time corrupted my entire user account, so opted for a PC Reset, and choose to install 12.3 this time.    Really a working in progress right now,  Still have Windows.0ld folder though, if I can find the memory dump in there, would that be helpful to Submit to Avast Developrs?

Stop error stated Memory Management when it crashed
