Slow, when sending mail......

My mail takes almost 2 minutes to send away after I installed Avast 4.0 Home. I disabled the function "scan outbound mail" but the problem is still there. If I close down Outlook Express 6 then my mail goes away. Maybe Avast is meant to be that way?
