Are you using Avast Mobile Security, or any other mobile AV for your Android device?  Well, the chances are you don't need to and all it's doing is data mining...

Another BS article.

True viruses are hardly seen (if any) for years.
The term anti-virus is for many years a misnomer.
It is a leftover from "the old days" when the only threat came from viruses.
Nowadays "anti malicious activity tool" (or something like that) would be a much better name as the software doesn't only protect against viruses.

And as I have said many times, security start with the user not with hardware/software.

I agree that security starts with the user, but I also agree with the article that an AV for Android is simply not required. Common sense is the best AV.

Uninstall your AV and see how much faster your device performs.

It makes no noticeable difference in speed on my tablet.
