netgear drivers wont install
« on: November 20, 2016, 07:47:56 PM »
Going to start a topic here because i dont think its a virus issue.
For a while now my net has been buggy due to the fact i am unable to install the netgear a6210 drivers/software for my wireless adapter instead windows throws its own 802.11ac wireless lan driver onto it instead leaving the netgear driver installer unable to detect the wireless adapter. I've looked arround google and the solutions i found involved replacing the drivers manually in the device manager but those failed for me.
So i am wondering if theres anyway to fully remove the windows drivers and replace them with my own.

https://www.netgear.com/support/product/A6210#Software Version 1.0.0.35 (Supports Win10)
Tried those drivers ?

Did you connect it to a USB3 port ?
Are your chipset drivers the latest ?

yes thats the version im trying to install, yes it was connected to a usb3 port and i think my chipset drivers are the latest. The adapter works and it was installed just fine untill i uninstalled the drivers to reinstall them and it just wont install again. its detecting the adapter just not as a netgear a6210 adapter.

edit: it also does the exact same thing on my laptop which is also windows 10 so im thinking its a thing with windows 10.

Well, it would not surprise me if the problem is W10.
W10 is filled with bug/problems, it is even worse then Vista.

You could try control panel, select the adapter, properties, driver(s) and then select to manually select a driver and point it to the ones from Netgear.
For some people who had the same problem as you with drivers for a device this worked.

Nothing wrong with the link. Here's the information from that link that should solve your problem:

For problems with the windows 10 included driver with the a6210 (e.g. no 5ghz networks visible) just use the latest driver from mediatek (5.1.21.0).

It is the newer version of the driver that came with windows 10 and with it i can join my 5ghz wlan, which wasnt able with the old one!

The chip in the A6210 is a Mediatek MT7612U.

Time for you to get lost Bob.
The problem is not with the driver but with Windows 10!
Windows 10 is even worse then Vista.

That is the problem and MS needs to solve it.

as you can see in my attachment its a dead link and i can connect to my router through the wireless adapter fine but i have huge lag issues which i never used to have before, and when i check my router i am connected to the 5ghz wireless.

Im currently connected using my powerline wired network which is buggy and randomly dissconnects untill the plug is turned off and on again.

These all seem to work > http://www.wirelesshack.org/best-wireless-usb-dongles-windows-10-compatible.html

Keep in mind though that Windows 10 has a serious problem when it comes to adapters that support 5G.
Best is perhaps contacting a store and ask if you can test a adapter on your system before buying it (or make sure you can return it and get your money back when it doesn't work).

The link Bob first posted works fine https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiFi-Adapters/Windows-10-A6100-A6200-A6210-Installation-Heads-Up/td-p/966923

Bobs mediatek link has a page error.

If you have ongoing issues with the WiFi adaptor in your system is it possible to update your adaptor, I changed the card that came in my Asus laptops to an Intel 7260 AC for $20.
