UK Snoopers Charter and it's effect on SecureLine
« on: November 24, 2016, 12:20:59 AM »
Hi,

Some of you may have noticed that the Snoopers Charter has pretty much finished being pushed through UK parliament. If I connect to a US server will Avast still be required to log my data
and hand it over?

Forgive me for my ignorance on this subject, I'm not very computer literate. Just very much a believer in civil liberties such as privacy.

Hi connorhuggett, welcome to the forum :)

I am also a Civil Liberties activist, but I am not familiar with United Kingdom laws.
That said : In general, if you are using a VPN ( like SecureLine ), I recommend not to use any USA, UK or in your own country based servers.
Also switch regularly from VPN server, and/or use other ( free ) proxies like Tor as well.

avast doesn't log the data you send/receive through their VPN.

As the data is encrypted, it wouldn't be of any use anyway.
And although the data goes through servers owned/hired by avast, avast can't decrypt the data.
