As it seems a new version of AOS was released yesterday (25 november), that could have something to do with it.

Where did you see that there was a new version of AOS ?

I would like to hope that would get updated during any VPS update (or emergency update), as it wouldn't make sense releasing an update that would only get updated in a program update.

If it did update during a VPS (or emergency update), that would probably need a reboot to complete the update.

When I installed it earlier today it said 'last updated 26th November'. So I think it just gives the date that it's installed on until there is a proper update.

I didn't check it as I mentioned I generally don't visit shortened URLs as you have no idea where they go prior to connecting. So I don't know where or what the "last updated 25 november" relates to.

If you are talking about the Firefox add-on 'more' information for AOS, then mine shows last updated 19 August 2016, so months earlier.

Is there any chance someone who the add-on does work for uninstall then reinstall it? Just to see if it then gets blocked?

I tried to install it on firefox 50.0 with avast 12.3.2280 on my win7 system as I didn't use it on that, only on this test system.

It failed to install (disabled) and it is the same AOS version 12.0.88 as in my image2 in Reply #7 above.
Despite having the same about:config settings for xpinstall.values in my first image in Reply #7 above.

Thanks for doing that, DavidR. Certainly something strange is going on.

You're welcome.

It is certainly weird. The only thing I can think of is I have had the firefox AOS Add-on on this XP system for some considerable time without removing it. Nor have I done a clean install of avast only Program Updates in avast.
