Computers show up as "offline" in the Avast account
« on: December 01, 2016, 09:43:39 PM »
Hello,

A customer of mine has an Avast Internet Security paid license that he uses in several computers on his store. Today I visit him and made a overall checkup in his network. Everything seems to be fine with the computers regarding the AV licenses. However he showed me that when he logs into his Avast account the computers on the list (all PCs running Windows) show up a red dot with the word "offline" aside even being the computers turned on and connected to the Internet.

I couldn't explain to him what is that because I have no idea. Although it doesn't seem to be a serious issue to me, he is puzzled and I would like to have an answer to give to him since it's a fair question.

So, what exactly the "offline" status mean and how can I fix that?

Thanks!

Does it change if you repair and reboot?  >>  https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB204#artTitle

I think I wasn't clear enough. Everything in Avast in every computer is working fine. There is not what repair. But if we login in Avast account all the computers appear offline. Why this?

Here a snapshot of the screen:

Well, something somewhere is not working and a repair might solve the problem.

Well, never mind...

Anyway, I opened a ticket at the Avast support and they helped me to figure out. There wasn't anything wrong and didn't have to repair nothing. It was just a simple configuration and everything is fine now.

Reporting what that misconfiguration was, might help others in the future, as no one had thought of a misconfiguration (whichever it was) might be the problem.
