Antivirus turning off
« on: December 02, 2016, 02:59:57 PM »
I'm using Avast free antivirus, with latest updates.  Since upgrading to Windows 10, every few days Avast turns itself off (red cross on tray icon).  I have to restart it then it works fine for some days or a week or so.  It happens on more than one computer, and has only happened since WIN 10.  Any ideas?

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

Tried the repair a week or so ago, but it has just happened again.

I'll go for the clean install.

If you have administrator privileges, you may want to open the Event Viewer, navigate to Windows Logs > Application in the left-hand menu, then set Filter Current Log in the right-hand menu to Event level: Error, Event sources: Application Error, and Include/Exclude Event IDs: 1000. If you see any exceptions for AvastSvc.exe you should report them to Avast Support.

I've now done the clean install as detailed above using avastclear and the new install.  This seems to have fixed it, it hasn't disconnected itself for two weeks now.
