Avast Anti-theft for Android
« on: December 04, 2016, 11:57:10 AM »
I'm using Avast Anti-theft for my android. As I understand, my phone can be locked or wiped out completely by sending the below SMS from any mobile to my phone number.

PIN Lock (e.g.: 1234 lock)
PIN Wipe (eg.: 1234 wipe)

I want to know if there's a way to disable the wipe action? Because, if someone who has same PIN as that of mine and if he/she sends the above SMS to my phone-number, my phone will get wiped off. Is there's any way to avoid this? Can we ensure that wipe command works only when sent from preset  trusted number?

No, it can't be turned off.

It doesn't matter if someone has the same pin.
The command must be send from a phone in the friends list. (afaic)

If it could be turned off, thief's (and other bad guys) could do so.

I tried sending the command from a phone number which is not in my friend's list still the phone got locked.

Is there any way to ensure that commands work only when sent from phone numbers which are in friend's list?

Hi, indeed, now you can send the SMS commands from any number.

Noone should know your Anti-Theft PIN, just as the PIN to your credit card or phone.
