Unfortunately Mac not all of us can afford the enormous prices charged by Apple for their CLOSED SYSTEM.
My Intel computer is quite capable of running OSX.
I know I didn't buy if From Apple but then I could afford this one.
This isn't meant to set of a war between Apple fans and Windows fans.
It's meant to allow those of us who can't afford an Apple to at least try their OS.
If you cant afford $599 for a Mac Mini, then you run Windows or Linux. Your Computer is not capable of running Mac OS X legally last time I checked (you would be violating the EULA). Also you machine would need to be based on Intel's EFI technology and not the older BIOS(otherwise you would need to make some kind of modification to the software to get it to work).
At one point Apple did have a Trial of the Mac OS where you were loaned a Mac Mini for 30 Days to test out the OS, but there were problems with getting the units back so it was ended.
You can still try out the OS, just go to any Apple Retail store or Best Buy (Lots of Best Buy stores sell Macs now and they are expanding it to more stores every month).
But lets face it, people who are not willing to Spend $599 on a computer are not the market Apple is catering to, Apple has said before they are not interested in the Low end computer market as they would not be proud to have such stripped down machines with a Apple logo on them and the profit margins are too small in that market as well.
