That sounds like a lot less hassle than doing a clean OS install and having to set it up with your settings. Though this needs the PCmover Professional if you want to move applications. This tool is available from Laplink for free. I would have happily paid for that if it were around when I got this system several years ago. It took me over five days to get this system and applications setup the way I wanted it, a right pain in the rear.

Another Data Breach Crisis Looms as Microsoft’s D-Day for XP Forces Security Scramble

The most important part of Vlk's Blog post:

AVAST is devoted to protecting the PC ecosystem by not only supporting Windows XP for at least the next three years, but also by creating protection modules and detections specifically designed to cover Windows XP vulnerabilities and other security problems. We have already taken additional steps in our latest product release, avast! 2014, by making the product lighter, both in terms of speed and resource consumption, tailoring it for older machines still running Windows XP. In addition to the security value, avast! 2014 is offered for free, which is especially important for XP users. Upgrading to a newer version of Windows comes with costs, costs that not everyone can afford and is probably a big reason why many users haven’t upgraded yet.

One Website that pulls it all together:

Once set up, all your information is easily gotten to from one central place.
It's still in the final beta stages. I watched a presentation yesterday while at a conference.

Who knew?  Also marks the decline of open source?

Pure nonsense. Including Android and the Chrome OS in the numbers is ludicrous. They are competitors to Linux, not allies. The only things that should be included are Ubuntu, Mint and the myriad other Linux distros which even combined are a miniscule segment of desktop usage. Windows still rules on the desktop and will for the forseeable future. For both work and leisure activities, it still can not be touched.

What?  Chrome and Android are both Linux , how can they not be included?

Read the article again, the guy is right in many ways.  Large amounts of apps you run on your Windows systems are in fact Linux based.

Look at Paragon and the other rescue systems ...... even avasts Grimefighter ........... they are Linux.   Linux rescues millions of Windows systems every day of the year  ;)

You are confusing "the truth" with "your opinion".
