Stop Malware with New Metascan Online Extension for Chrome
https://metascan-nl.cloudapp.net/blog/stop-malware-with-new-metascan-online-extension-for-chrome

Quote
The extension allows users to scan all downloads from within the browser, harnessing the power of 40+ commercial anti-malware engines with a single click.

you find it here   https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/metascan?hl=no   see video there
It certainly slows down your downloads. Even small files take time to download since they first need to be scanned by 40 AV's.

have anyone tested this ?     https://ninite.com/

Quote
Ninite will

start working as soon as you run it
not bother you with any choices or options
install apps in their default location
say no to toolbars or extra junk
install 64-bit apps on 64-bit machines
install apps in your PC's language or one you choose
do all its work in the background
install the latest stable version of an app
skip up-to-date apps
skip any reboot requests from installers
use your proxy settings from Internet Explorer
download apps from each publisher's official site
verify digital signatures or hashes before running anything
work best if you turn off any web filters or firewalls
save you a lot of time!

Quote
Ninite Pro helps you manage apps on your whole network for just $20/month for 100 machines. It's licensed for business use, faster because of its download cache, works offline, can uninstall apps, has options to disable built-in updaters and desktop shortcuts … we could go on, but there's a whole page for that.

But i guess it is quicker then first download, then upload to VT or Metascan and scan

VT has a option also, a uploader tool you install on your comp ..... may save you some time

          Secure your Google account:

If you use Google, this should be maintained, updated and, checked on a regular basis.

Do we really need Windows registry cleaners?
http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/do-we-really-need-windows-registry-cleaners.htm

Shortly: for performance reasons? NO.

The performance benefits are likely minimal after the machine boots, but a cleaned registry can give you faster boot times. There is also the fact that sometimes, leftover registry entries from uninstalled programs can cause conflicts and problems when installing new things. I always use the registry cleaning part of CCleaner when uninstalling things and often also will run the Auslogics cleaner.

That still doesn't mean it's a recommended item for the novice or average computer user.
I do many things on my computer or on a computer I may be helping to repair. I would never recommend
those tools to the person whose computer I fix.

I always create registry backup before cleaning, but I never was in situation to use that backup.
I agree that average users should be very careful with registry cleaners.

CCEnhancer is a small tool which adds support for over 1,000 new programs
into the popular program CCleaner. The tool uses the winapp2.ini system built into CCleaner
to easily add new rules and definitions for programs. The rules were sourced mainly from the
Piriform Support Forum, with several sourced from other places around the internet.
The latest version is 4.1 I've used this tool for several years.
