Would be interesting to see that implemented to Defender, no doubt.

Defender has to get alot better, also after Avast Defender is the most widely used AV on the market.

Defender in Win10 will come forward in leap and bounds, it's rooted much more deeply into the system than previous versions and partnered with some of the new technology in UAC they've enabled a much more effective antimalware, including their own cloud service.

You can read more in their pdf download http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48723

@CraigB: They still have alot of work to do, like it just lets any file with a signature right by for example.

Unless a signature or the Cloud detect it, nothing gets in their way.

I hope they will keep this track :)

Also a context-menu entry and a new UI would be helpful, maybe as Universal App.

New Engine, new database and faster malware removal shold be handy too :D

I tried using just Defender for a few days and it still suffers from the same problem that has been present from MSE days. I keep the installation files, mostly .exe's, for all of my installed programs in my Downloads folder. The first time that folder is opened after a restart, it takes a very long time for the contents to be shown. I get a small message saying "working on it" while the green progress bar creeps slowly along. With Defender off or disabled by another product, the folder loads much faster. The only real solution if you want to keep using Defender is to exclude the Downloads folder from being scanned. Of course this is a less than desirable scenario.

Defender has made big strides forward since the first MSE and is much lighter and faster while at the same time being more effective. The problem I gave, however, prevents me from using it as the default protection. The problem has been reported many times by many people with still no resolution.

@Dch48: How do you think about this getting into Windows Defender?

Well being Window Defender is an Anti malware solution and even with the improvements I wonder how it would then compare to MBAM. ???

MBAM has really dropped off on their detection rates over the last year or so and I never see anything detected anymore other than the odd PUP it'll remove from installers.

Windows Defender is more than just an Anti Malware program if we're talking about Windows 8 and up.
Is Malwarebytes less effective or, has Avast just gotten much better at protecting us against Malware ???

Bob, I believe we're discussing Defender with MBAM, Avast wasn't being compared.

Your statement: "MBAM has really dropped off on their detection rates over the last year or so and I never see anything detected anymore other than the odd PUP it'll remove from installers."
I was giving you a reason why that is probably happening.
Please read my statement. :)

But you haven't read correctly what I have said, I'm talking about Defender with MBAM, Avast isn't in the equation.
