I recently needed to do a clean install of Windows 10 version 1607.
It didn't take long for prey to let me know my device wasn't communicating with their service any more.
It didn't take me long to realize that the software that had already helped me once in recovering a laptop
needed to be re-installed.  Once done, I again have this laptop protected:

If you use any part of Windows Essentials, Microsoft support ends in Jan 2017.
