And what made HijackThis the authority?
Not to long ago, it considered avast! a possible thread.
There is no perfect program for detecting threats.
There is always the main man......    YOU  who makes the final decision.

Dan,
HJT isn't infallible. There isn't anything wrong with the program.
Remember, each program that scans for errors or security issues still requires
the personal touch... YOU.
Here's an example:

Quote
i really don't need it since i have siteadvisor,
The functions of this program have nothing to do with the functions of SiteAdvisor.

As I've told you many times, "It's your computer and you make the final decision what you
want running on it."
However, the fact that HJT doesn't recognize this program doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with it.  :)

i know that bob and as i am chatting with you now i still appreciate all the help you have given me...
i think i have enough protection on my system and i might think that the program is bad seeing the hijackthis as it was and freaked out :o on it saying NASTY but i might try it later on down the road when the software as it is brand new at this time is being improved and see some positive reviews of it ;D

Bob, do you know more about Iconix?
I've installed but now I'm concerned about that...
Does it really worth?

In your example it is a known fault with 1.99.1 which wasn't there before version 1,.99.1 and isn't there after it, as in with HJT 2.0.

O23 - Service: avast! Web Scanner - ALWIL Software - D:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe

It isn't a case of HJT not recognising the program, but detecting it as nasty an entirely different ballgame. Perhaps someone should take this up on the hijackthis.de forum (http://forum.hijackthis.de/index.php?langid=4).

I'll report on any definitive answers received from the above post.

I also call Iconix at their listed 800 number but this number apparently isn't manned by competent
support support personnel.  I was told that my concerns would be passed on. ( Maybe ??? )
