Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 SP3 Release Candidate 1 now available to the general public.

I've had this installed on my computer for the past few weeks and haven't had any problems.  :)

Happy 60th birthday transistor
It all started at Bell Labs.
Most likely it started with the recovery of the crashed Roswell vehicle.

Mac versus Windows vulnerability stats for 2007

Check out the comments: the general opinion seems to be that George Ou is spouting horsesh*t (again).

Quote
George's throroughly dishonest "stats" have been debunked
George selected a handful of security advisories for Windows, and then selected every advisory he could possibly find for any software that MIGHT POSSIBLY RUN ON MAC OS.

Not content merely to lie about what the contents of these advisories are, he took the further step of LYING about their seriousness.

George, you are a liar, and the proof of your lies is in the very links you provided. Unfortunately, your lying will work really well, convincing lots of people who erroneously think you're a journalist that their Macs are in imminent danger of being hacked via software packages that don't even exist on their systems.

Congratulations George, your methods are utterly contemptible.
I now know that you are completely untrustworthy and unreliable, and henceforth I will assume that every statement you make is false.

I'm inclined to agree.

Some have gone as far as to call him a "shill", I won't go that far- I'll just say I don't have much respect for his journalist standards.

Hi bob3160,

ZA was certainly impressed, because the bundled their firewall now with the ask toolbar because of the "AskEraser" in it, so your postings have great impact  ;D

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

I have ZAAS, it includes ZA Pro fw.  I can't find any ask toolbar.  I checked to see If I have the latest version, I do, 7.0.462.000.  Maybe they meant they will bundle ask toolbar in the next upgrade of ZA's fw's.

But you don't need ZA to use AskEraser. just use the ask.com  :)

Well I have to agree with FreeWFrank. Lots of those so called Mac flaws are for programs that are not Part of the OS.

Plus the so called $10,000 contest was a flaw in the Airport driver, in which apple worked with broadcom and produced a firmware update within a few weeks..

I see there are QuickTime flaws listed, so Lets add in the flaws for Windows Media Player since its bundled with windows.

In the end The core of Mac OS (UNIX) is secure just like linux, but its the software that you run on the OS that has the security flaws. The same holds true for Windows and any other OS.
