Not according to McAfee SiteAdvisor. I've been using that service for quite some time without any problems myself.  :)

According to Research by NPD Group, Apple has a 66% Market share of Computers costing $1,000 or more. So when you throw out all the bottom feeding $200-300 cheap PCs Apples market share really isnt so small ;)
Quote
Apple’s overall market share has been growing over the past few years, but according to market research company NPD Group, Apple is crushing the competiton when it comes to the retail sale of computers costing more than $1,000. Apple now commands a 66 percent share of that market for brick-and-mortar sales.

Perhaps most impressive is that the 66 percent share applies to both the notebook and desktop markets.

“The competitive pressures aren’t the same for Apple as they are for other companies,” Stephen Baker, NPD’s vice president of industry analysis, told Macworld. “Other PC companies have to compete with consumer expectations on price and shelf space at the retailers. That’s the benefit of having your own stores.”

Bottom feeding, a little derogatory for those who either can't afford or want a mac or have more sense than money and recognise a good deal when it comes along at 220-300.

No matter how you want to dress it up the Mac's market share is small and these figures don't represent true market share, just an artificial benchmark. Lies, Dam Lies and Statistics ;D
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Worldwide Total market Share is somewhere between 5-7%
US Market share falls somewhere around 8-10% (US Marketshare is always higher for Apple for some reason, even in the iPod/iPhone world)

So yes depending on who you believe (every publication has slightly different numbers) it is a small piece of the market. But the important thing is its growing at a steady pace, Apple always compares its year-over-year growth to the rest of the PC Market at every earnings report, If Apple's quarterly reports can be trusted. (Lies, Dam Lies and Statistics ;D Im sure they are fudged at least a little)

No thats certainly not a bottom feeder, what I am referring to when I say "bottom feeders" are these Wal-Mart / Costco / Best Buy / Etc $299 special Machines witch some 2 year old Celeron/Sempron processor, 512MB of RAM and trying to run Vista machines.

Because it never ceases to amaze/irritate me when a person Walks in the store and Looks at the Mac Mini and says "$599 for this and no Monitor?" People just don't understand the difference in the quality of the parts between a $299 machine and a Mac Mini or a Dell Vostro such as yours.

I just came across the following:

Can Dell be as cool as Apple?

It would take years for them to build a reputation like Apple has.

I think this part of that article says it all:
Quote
Apple has invested a lot of money and effort into not only making the product feel special (the build quality of Apple products is exceptional), but also the customer. Apple manages to give the impression of selling a luxury product (maybe a Swiss watch or a luxury car) without the astronomical price tag. I’m pretty sure that many of those who are new to Apple feel just a little bit special because they bought a Mac.

And again, not having Windows on the machine is a plus too ;)

Many of you have asked before, since Apple now uses Intel chips why wont they sell a version for non Apple Machines? I mentioned about the Mac Clones of when Apple used to License the Mac OS back in the mid 90s as the reason why they will not do that.

MacWorld Has a great article this week detailing the "Clone Wars" of the 90s that you should read and you will understand why Apple restricts its OS to its hardware.

Article is here:

CELESTIA..........A lot of people seem to like this - a free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions. Celestia runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All movement in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit. Celestia is expandable. Celestia comes with a large catalog of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecraft. If that's not enough, you can download dozens of easy to install add-ons with more objects.....(free)  http://www.shatters.net/celestia/

Intel Delays Release of Centrino 2 Platform

http://www.macworld.com/article/133633/2008/05/centrino2.html

Centrino 2 is the new Laptop processor and chpset combo that was supposed to launch next month

This is bad news as Many Laptop Manufacturers (Including Apple) were expected to ship new models next month with this platform.
