I have Ubuntu on my notebook, and Vista Ultimate on my desktop, Ubuntu can write on NTFS drives, so I keep all my external HDD NTFS.

No question that Microsoft needs a new file system, hopefully WinFS will come out in Windows 7, NTFS just doesn't do a great job on today's machines.

And there are open source drivers for Mac OS X that enable writing to NTFS, but I just prefer  to use FAT32 and wait for Apple to add full NTFS support. Hopefully in Snow Leopard

Apple plugs 25 Mac OS X security vulnerabilities

I love how they call every apple update a "Monster Update". ::)

See here for a unbiased report of the update:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2163

When Security updates come out for Windows everyone links to the Microsoft Security Bulletin, So the obvious thing would be to link to Apple's Bulletin for OS X.

ZDNet's headlines are overblown: take them with a pinch of salt.

A pinch of salt is being very generous.
A grain of salt is sufficient....  ;D ;D

That is not what the article said by any stretch of the imagination (yours excepted).

It said very clearly .. and I think it reflects the thoughts of many of us who do use Windows ... that there is no compelling reason or advantage in switching from XP to Vista.

That does not change the reality that over the next couple of years even more millions of users will get Vista as they but new machines and find that it works just fine (as those I support who have bought new machines with Vista have found).

It is a though that I support there is no compelling reason to switch to Vista from XP Pro SP3.

I have just ordered a new custom built base system and have ordered XP Pro SP3 with that, whilst it is still reasonably easy to get XP, even though it actually costs me more for XP Pro than the Vista Home Premium option.

637 million Google users surfing with insecure browser

I might add that I'm not one of the "637 million Google users" mentioned in this article.  ;D ;D

Firefox updates itself automatically, so how can 17% of its users not be on the latest release? ???

I think it is somewhat flawed as the benchmark they used is I feel wrong, you can have IE6 SP2 and all security updates and that is considered insecure as their benchmark is looking for:

The researchers used the most recent major versions of Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), Firefox 2 (FF2), Safari 3 (SF3) and Opera 9 (OP9) as the benchmark version for the most secure Web browser measurements

I guess there are some who disable auto update, like I do for one. As a dial-up user and suspicious to boot there is very little on my system that I allow to auto update, avast being the main exception ;D

People Line up a week early for iPhone 3G

Are they nuts? Last year I could understand it because Apple has traditionally been unprepared for new product launches. But now that they know the demand for the device, there should be plenty to go around on launch day.
