It will on my system, sod what they say. Sledgehammer and Nut again and you wonder why people don't like apple.

What business it is taking away from apple, I don't think anyone in their right mind would buy a mac just to have a dock shortcut interface.

Well Apple Applied for this patent when Mac OS X was first released 9 years ago, if the Government would not have taken so long to award it there would not be anyone else doing it.  And it does not matter if it costs Apple business or not its their invention and they have the right to make people either pay license fees or discontinue the infringing product.

Every company defends their products and patents, even  Microsoft.

Asus ships Eee Box PCs with malware

“According to an email sent out by Asus, PC Advisor reports, the Eee Box’s 80GB hard drive has the recycled.exe virus files hidden in the drive’s D: partition. When the drive is opened, the virus activates and attempts to infect the C: drive and any removable drives connected to the system."

How can something like this happen in this day and age??  ???

Easy, almost all PCs/Macs/MP3 players/etc are assembled in the far east, one of the employees at the factory could have messed with the drive image.

Not long ago there were reports of Hard Disks being shipped that were already infected.

Apple did not create the dock.  It seems ridiculous to me that Rocket Dock would be affected.  Absolutely ridiculous.

This article on Wincustomize is interesting http://forums.wincustomize.com/318845

Your article doesnt show the first dock. The first Dock was by Acorn Computers in their RISCOS.
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/10/10/road_to_mac_os_x_leopard_dock_1_6.html

Plus NeXT's implementation of the dock has been around since the late 80s, and NeXT is the basis for Mac OS X. So The Implementation that is in Mac OS X was in development long before ObjectDock.

Anyway I never said Apple was the first one to use a Dock, I just pointed out that they are the ones that have the patent for it.

I believe this is official ...

Microsoft Project codename "Windows 7" ... Will be called ... Windows 7 !!

Different, yes. Perhaps a new tone from Vista and XP, and been a while since the 3.1x and NT numbering days.

Let's make this "7" a lucky number now, shall we?

I have just started reading an article in PC Pro magazine on what they think windows 7 will contain, it will be interesting to see how this compares with these links.

MS have certainly been keeping their cards close to their chests on this one, especially when you consider all the hype that went into Vista only for some major functions to be withdrawn or quietly forgotten. I guess they don't want to get burned in the same way, but more so, the more hype and information released may only serve to have people consider skipping Vista all together like me.

Too little too late, Vista has already done its damage. Apple gave its "State of the Mac" Address today and 17.6% of US Retail computer sales are now Macs, thats quite an impressive jump from years past. And Vista is a big part of the reason people are switching.

Which was the older marketing share?

Last statistic was from last year at 16%.  Then down sharply from there (back before intel changeover)

EDIT: Here is the Apple Keynote with the State of the Mac address from Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook
http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net/0810rtdws876/event/index.html

EDIT 2: One thing to note is this is for the US. Worldwide market share is still not that high (Obviously 16% of all computers are not Macs), But then most of Apple's Marketing is US Focused, and the Majority of their Retail Stores are also in the US.

Microsoft officials said Silverlight 2 will be available for download from the company’s Silverlight site starting on October 14.
They also said that anyone using a beta version of Silverlight 2 or Silverlight 1 will be “automatically upgraded” via Microsoft’s
various patching systems to Silverlight 2 in the coming months.
(However, users will be able to block the Silverlight 2 download if they decide to do so.)
