So does Winpatrol and Malwarebytes IMHO, does a much better job of cleaning up Malware than S&D.  :)
Feel the same...

Used correctly, Spybot's Teatimer works very well to prevent unwanted changes in a computer's registry.

WinPatrol is a monitoring tool like Spybot S&D's TeaTimer and the PLUS update provides quick information on what is running on your system.

Malwarebytes is a cleanup application that provides updates sometimes hourly and has a real time monitor in the Fee version.

SpywareBlaster provides protection equal to Spybot S&D's Immunize function.

SpywareBlaster does not Immunize system using HOSTS file and adding lot of web-site in "restrict sites" would slow down application launch time. if you be able to Immunize hosts file and keep it locked from malware attacks you would be more happy and your computer would work very faster and you don't need to add many sites into your registry (restrict sites)

I see that you appear to be somewhat confused by each application's detection and prevention.

Where did I say that SpywareBlaster has any influence on the HOSTS file?

If software can set the HOSTS file to Read only then malware can undo this and have its way with the HOSTS file.

Restricted Zone Immunization has absolutly nothing to do with the HOSTS file.

In IE8 I notice little difference in startup speed with or without SpywareBlaster's protection (Immunization).

Windows Defender detects HOSTS file modification immediatly and notifies you if the change should be approved or not.

By the way, I am rid of Avira AntiVir as it does not meet my needs.

Are you a member of Avira forum?

If you are check out my posts.

In a nutshell it just does not work for me but against me as I have to cripple a couple of features that have become too troublesome for me so that makes the application virtually worthless to me.

@YoKenny: look like a misapprehension... I'm sorry

Where did I say that SpywareBlaster has any influence on the HOSTS file?
You did not said, It was just a suggestion by me, Immunize hosts instead of other places :)

If software can set the HOSTS file to Read only then malware can undo this and have its way with the HOSTS file.
same about anything else... if you immunize IE, malware can remove those URL from it ;)

Restricted Zone Immunization has absolutly nothing to do with the HOSTS file.
I know, but when URL be blocked (redirected to localhost), no need to immunize again in IE or FF, because it would not load... IMHO

In IE8 I notice little difference in startup speed with or without SpywareBlaster's protection (Immunization).
it would not slow down ONLY IE, it would cause slow down in loading all windows application, so you would feel your windows is not working in that way that you like and you wish, you would see your RAM and CPU is free, but system is slightly slow...

Windows Defender detects HOSTS file modification immediatly and notifies you if the change should be approved or not.
Thank you, I would check it in the Windows Defender options/features. look like useful :)

By the way, I am rid of Avira AntiVir as it does not meet my needs.
but it's same what I like and want and need, really really nice detection rate, fast scan speed, very very light on resource and secure, the latest update has added minor behavior detection (something like HIPS, but not like a full guard) for the thing related to browser for even more security, just I wish if Avira could fix that problem about the delay it cause for network operation on slow internet...

Internet Explorer + Google Chrome = security problem

Yeah, but the fix for Chrome is already available.  IE is probably still at risk though...

Anyone who didn't see this coming is extremely gullible if you download W7 from anywhere other than MS or trusted source you really have to believe it is likely to come with unwelcome gifts. Unfortunately there are plenty of fools about that would do it.

right, when you use illegal (not just illegal in word, un-trusted source) you should accept that you are putting yourself in risk... hope MS make it available to download W7 image via any kind of P2P too... like UBUNTU, OpenOffice.org and... :)

Yeah, but they'll never do that because they won't have control over it.  MS is all about that...
