Many Tablets and small computers now come without a DVD or CD player.
To boot from a DVD, Microsoft supplies this easy to use utility:

RogueKiller scans systems for rootkits, registry issues, and more:

IMHO, an excellent tool in the right hands or a tool to use when guided by a professional.

(This is a tool that if used incorrectly, could leave your system un-bootable!)

Got a Laptop, Get a Better Battery Guage.
It's a little ironic that a tool to measure battery usage would in itself contribute to increased drain. It's probably negligible, but still has to be there.

I turned off my default battery icon and app. which made it pretty much a wash.
(I'm currently not using it and waiting for a version that's compatible with Windows 8.)

Well I have been looking for a replacement for RequestPolicy & RefControl in fx for GoogleChrome and found it in Kiss combined.
For advanced users that like to have control over third party requests: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lfopjlendebbnfddpgpoaahmpbgmffii

Filtering is done by blocking or modifying requests based on referrer and target domain. All according to rules and defaults set up by you.

Like it a lot,

Google Puts Internet Explorer 8 on Notice, Ends Support in Nov.
It mentions Google apps, none of which I use. I wonder if it includes the search page and search engine which I do use. I suspect not. I do have a Gmail account but I rarely , if ever access it through the actual web page.
