File System Shield

Hi Folks,

I just installed Avast free version for Mac (MacBook Pro). Ran it - worked fine... However, I tried to run the File System Scan - and it's been running for over 24 hours now. No infected files out of the more than 37,000 it's inspected. I did the same on my wife's MacBook Pro and it took about 10-15 minutes to complete the scan.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Many thanks,

Ken

Make sure the Time Machine backup is disabled.

As Eddy says, Time Machine is the usual culprit. However if you do not wish to disable it, you can do a manual scan and select only your main Hard Drive and not a full system scan
