AVG's Privacy Policy?
« on: December 11, 2016, 08:42:06 PM »
Is AVG's privacy policy the same as avast's now that avast owns AVG? and Just curious what is avast doing about AVG's privacy policy because one of the reasons I switched to avast was because of AVG's new privacy policy? http://www.zdnet.com/article/avg-releases-transparent-privacy-policy-yes-we-will-sell-your-data/

The current AVG privacy policy is actually not much different from others IMHO. Somehow, AVG got into some PR issues because of it last year but I don't yet fully understand why.

Eventually, we will want to standardize these things but as you can imagine, it's not at the top of the priority list right now.

All I would say is that we (Avast, and now AVG) don't sell user data.
As most of you know, we do look into insights that can be pulled from traffic data, but that's different.
For some more explanation, see e.g. recent my post here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/avast-acquires-antivirus-maker-avg-for-1-3bn.386973/page-4#post-2621679

Hope this helps,
Vlk

There is one difference though, avast! has option to opt out from sharing aggregated data with 3rd parties. That second checkbox next to CommunityIQ checkbox. AVG doesn't have it (yet). How is with that and if it'll change for AVG in the future?
