Avast Showing up #1 in Bandwidth Usage
« on: December 14, 2016, 05:11:07 PM »
Starting yesterday Avast has started showing up #1 in bandwidth usage on my CIPA filter.  My limited bandwidth is pegged.  Anybody know why this would be occurring or what is being downloaded from Avast? This is a Microsoft update week I know which may be exacerbating the problem.

As avast scans the network traffic, it often looks as if avast is causing it while it isn't.

We are actually having a problem with Avast too. We have more bandwidth so it's not crippling us right now but it's not good.

Monday Avast.com = ~100 MB
Tuesday Avast.com = 10 GB
Today (Wed.) Avast.com = 180 GB (and counting)

Something is definitely messed up!

I hope they get it fixed soon.

It can be have to do with the merger of avast and avg for instance the combining of the databases.
Best you can do is to contact avast > https://support.business.avast.com/hc/en-us

Are either of you using an on-premise console or the Cloud based console?

If on-premise, is the traffic coming from the server running the Avast Mirror?

On-Premise AEA Console. Clients set to receive updates through local mirror. The traffic seems to be coming from all of the clients and not just from the mirror server.

There are several references to being out of licenses. Can you confirm that all clients have a license? In AEA, clients with no license will have a Key over their status icon
