Avast memory test automatically starts
« on: February 18, 2006, 08:01:17 PM »
The memory test starts running  on its own; when I try to close out it will bring up the icon to run the virus program.  My OS is winxp. Can someone help me out with what may be going on and how to fix the problem?

Hi jst_tee,

Did you possibly create a task to test the memory and then schedule it to run at regular intervals?  This would only apply in the professional version.

Does the memory test happen when you open the avast! program, or just out of the blue?

It sounds like something is causing ashAvast.exe to run but I'm not sure what.

Does it seem like the memory scan is related to a particular action like downloading a file?   I mean, if you just let your computer sit idle the memory test doesn't start randomly, does it?

Are you using anything like a download manager or Firefox Download Statusbar where you manually specify to scan with a particular antivirus program?
