Check files in background ?

Avast is a great tool but a bit annoying when checking downloaded files : it comes systematically in the foreground. Is it possible to keep it in the background ?

Can you give some more detail? When the on-access scanner is running there is nothing in the foreground (unless an infection is present, obviously).

Perhaps a screenshot of what you are referring to?
