I tried hibernating worked fine. And I have tried shutting down the file shield for a while seems to fix the issue. Not sure if this is the main cause.

Thanks

Yes, disabling the FileShield worked for me. I disabled the FileShield, and now I could shut down my computer.

Well then I am not alone.Surely must be something associated with file shield.Ironically only experiencing the issue on win10  :)

Just a thought, but Windows 10 is somewhat picky about program access levels. Try setting Avast to "run as administrator" and see if that fixes the problem.

I would have thought that AvastSvc.exe (avast service) is running at a higher level (System) and that is the file that controls the various scanning engines.

Yes, you would think so. But sometimes in Windows 10 you must explicitly tell a specific program to run as administrator.
I run SpybotSD like that or it won't always do full immunization in Win 10 ... I also had Adobe Photoshop CS2 and it wanted to register, but the registration would not take, unless it was done when the program was run as administrator.

My last install of Avast was with admin rights and I have no shut down problems.
The last time it was installed I didn't use the right click option and installed just by clicking on the setup file.
Wonder now if the clean install of Windows 10 was really needed. ???

shutdown problem (hibernation)
We identified a bug in anti-rootkit module which sometimes blocked hibernation process, this should be fixed in next beta version.

Make me a birthday present and get that happening :)
Last Beta locked my machine up on boot alot.

And another good present would be good behavior blocking in the next Beta :D
