There is no standard naming convention for virus names so it is unlikely that you would easily find an alias virus name.

You are more likely to find aliases using the infected file name.

- What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number, e.g. 0436-4 (see about avast!)
- What was the filename, where was it found
  example (C:\windows\system32\infected-filename.xxx)?
- What actions have you taken to try and resolve the problem? - move to chest, delete, etc.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

It was a file that I had on a CD it was in RAR format. The file was copy nook and the KEYGEN file that went with it seems to be a Trojan
I am using AVAST 4.61 home edition.

Welcome to the forums, PCOR.    :)

Hopefully, you told avast to put it in the chest. There it can do no harm. Also, I hope you are using a firewall so that this has not sent itself elsewhere.

With a Google search, I had no problem finding it using the correct spelling.    ;)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&q=win32+trojan+2575&spell=1

This is a quite old trojan dating back to 1998 or so.

Firstly I suggest you update avast which is now at 4.6.763.

Secondly these KeyGen tools usually originate from (shall we say) sites of unknown/dubious origin, warez, etc. and there is a strong possibility of geting something you didn't bargain for.

Since it is on CD there really isn't much point in sending it to the chest as it isn't on your system, unless of course you wahted to send it to avast.

You could also check the offending/suspect file at: Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. You can't do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.
Or VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner
